Day 66: McLaren Vale, South Australia

Travel day today - so not much to report. Flew from Alice Springs to Adelaide - spending the night in McLaren Vale - about 1 hour south of Adelaide. Tomorrow morning I'm booked to take the ferry to Kangaroo Island - so my goal was to stay somewhere close to the ferry - found out there isn't much available in Cape Jervis - so I'll have a 1 hour drive in the morning. 

McLaren Vale is actually a cool little town in the middle of one of South Australia's wine regions. It's best known for its Shiraz.

I had a great dinner at 'The Barn' - just a 3 minute walk from my motel. Scallops to start and then beef cheeks for my main (sounds weird - but very delicious) with a side of cheddar cauliflower -- all washed down witha very nice glass of Pieri 'Occasione' Shiraz. 

And now doing laundry - exciting stuff!  It's great that so many motels have self-service apartments with washer/dryer in the room - makes it so easy. 

I'm staying in some kind of wilderness cottage while on Kangaroo Island - no internet, no TV, etc  - so will only post short updates the next couple of days.
