Today was a long day of driving. I'm not really sure what I was thinking! (actually I do know why I did this -- this week and next week are school holiday in South Australia & Victoria -- and considered the last hurrah for the beach before winter sets in -- many places were sold out when I booked things in January --- so I didn't have many options -- it's a good thing I did book back then -- or I would be sleeping in my car tonight). Just spending the night in Robe -- off to Port Fairy tomorrow -- staying there for 2 nights.
Although long, the drive was pretty easy -- rolling hills for the first bit (through Adelaide Hills --- another big wine producing area in Australia) -- and then mostly flat. My goal was to reach Robe before dusk (which is early now -- around 5:30pm) -- so I only made one real stop along the way -- at Coorong National Park -- where I went for a nice walk around some of the lagoons.
I ended up making pretty good time -- reached Robe around 4:30pm -- which gave me some time to walk around town before dark. Motel was kind of rundown (except for the bed -- nice sheets and extremely comfortable) -- but it didn't make much difference since I wasn't there for long.
Weather: overcast with peeks of blue sky, 5 minutes of rain in the afternoon, 50 - 64F
Miles Walked: 3.0
kms Driven: 530
Pic Notes:

- 5: White Heron
- 10-16: Robe
- Pretty town with some really nice old building (well, old by Australian standards) -- and some very nice restaurants
- 10: Our Lady Star of the Sea Church (1858)
- 11: Customs House (1863)
- 16: Bank House (1859)
