OMG ... slowest internet ever at this holiday camp; supposed to be free and accessible from anywhere on the camp .... so not true. Can only access at the office/reception area ... where the kid night crew are watching "Super Troopers" -- possibly the stupidest movie ever.
ok ... so much for the complaining
Had a fantastic day; beautiful drive from Paihia to Ahipara. Route: Paihia --> Kerikeri --> Matauri Bay --> Mangonui --> 90 Mile Beach --> Ahipara
Lunch -- best fish & chips at Mangonui Fish Shop (some local fish -- starts with an H -- and some really good cole slaw -- very fresh and minimally dressed --- good counter to the friedness of the fish, etc.)
The scenery was non-stop gorgeous -- the colors are just amazing at time -- incredible greens & blues
Staying at the Ahipara Holiday Camp; nice location -- 5 minute walk to the beach, but not nearly as nice a camp as the one in Paihia (Bay of Islands Holiday Park)
Tomorrow is a long drive day -- leaving the Northland --- will hopefully get somewhere near Hamilton by tomorrow night -- and meet up with some friends of friends.
90-mile beach is just gorgeous --- but it's actually just 55 miles long -- but anyway, it was one of the most magical moments on that beach --- all by myself and miles & miles of waves crashing
photo notes: don't know why -- but encountered lots of roosters on Day 14; people can drive on the 90-mile beach -- but they have to be careful of the tides ... and getting stuck in the sand on the way back to the main road
Weather: cloudy, sunny, rain showers, sunny; 70 - 73F
Miles Walked: 5+
km Driven: 193.2
