Day 4: Blue Mountains - part 2

After a stop for an early lunch -- we spent about 1 hour walking around on trails in the Blue Mountains.

Two of the more famous spots are the Three Sisters and Katoomba Falls.  There are a couple supposed aboriginal legends about the Three Sisters -- but they seem to have been debunked as being made up by a local in the 1920s.  Summer is fairly dry in the Blue Mountains -- so the falls were more like a trickle.

We also went to Scenic World -- took a cable car down into a temperate rainforest -- we took the long walk through the forest (set path on a raised boardwalk -- protects the forest -- keeps the leeches off (yuck!)) -- and then took the scenic train back up to the top.

Side note:  not sure why the area is called "mountains" -- it's more like a plateau with carved out canyons -- highest point is a bit more than 3,000 feet.

On the way back to the city -- we were dropped off at the Olympic Village to catch a ferry back into town.  Weather was a bit crappy by that point (overcast & very windy) -- so could have done without
the ferry bit.

Weather:  sunny start, clouded up around 2pm (75 - 80F)
Miles Walked:  4.5 (some wicked hills -- should count for more!)
Transportation:  tour bus, gondola, cable car, scenic train, ferry
