Day 27: Te Anau

Spent a lazy day in Te Anau.  Turned out to be a gorgeous weather day -- so just putted around Lake Te Anau and Lake Manapouri.  Went for a couple of nice walks -- and then just sat by the lake and read.  And then did some laundry (exciting stuff, eh?).  Also had a really nice blue cod fish & chips for lunch -- and fried pineapple (interesting concept!)

Lake Te Anau is the 2nd largest lake in NZ (behind Lake Taupo) and the only one in NZ with inland fjords.  The town of Te Anau is situated at the southern end of the lake -- the lake juts north for 65km.

Weather:  mostly sunny w/big puffy clouds, 55 - 70F
Miles Walked:  5.3
km Driven:  99.7

Book/s Read:  The Bones of Paris by Laura R. King -- pretty good -- light read -- bit too long -- and some parts were rather tedious -- I have encountered that a lot lately -- where are their editors?!?!

(warning -- lots of bird pics -- this is NZ after all)

pic notes:  bird 1 - paradise shelduck, bird 2 - takahe (very prehistoric looking), bird 3 - Australasian crested grebe, old people playing croquet -- was tempted to challenge them to a game -- but they looked too good at it; pics 4 - 7 are of Lake Manapouri -- the rest are Lake Te Anau)
