Today wasn't my favorite day in Tasmania -- too much time in a bus (or possibly it's because we left early -- 7:30am). We drove from Hobart to Strahan and stopped at 4 places along the way.
- 1st stop was at Russell Falls -- nice walk up to the falls through a temperate rainforest.
- 2nd stop was at Lake St. Clair. Beautiful lake. Supposedly the deepest lake in Australia. It's the end point for people who do the bushwalk on the Overland Track.
- 3rd stop was at "The Wall of Wilderness" which was really odd -- some guy decided to carve the history of Tasmania on these large panels of wood -- we weren't allowed to take any pictures (copyright protection -- to force you to buy postcards, etc. -- totally stupid). Most of the people liked the carvings --- I thought the whole thing was rather hokey.
- 4th stop was Queenstown -- an old mining town. Pretty setting -- and some nice old buildings. And the last real "town" (pop: 2,000) that we would see for 3 nights.
- And then we reached our stop for the night Strahan Village (Strahan is pronounced "strawn").
